1. Camus choses to only use statements in The Stranger, because the style highlights the attitude of Meursault, portrays Meursault as a man without curiosities, and allows the reader to see very clearly into the narrator.
ReplyDelete2. Camus choses to use a first person objective because the character of Meursault can be understood more clearly, Camus wishes to completely make the book about Meursault and his thoughts, and to allow the reader to know all that is taking place in Meursault's mind.
1. Camus/Ward has Mersault use simple words to characterize Mersault as a blunt, straightforward person, allowing the reader to get a good impression of him as a character.

6.Before the main part of the chapter begins, Camus uses a smaller paragraph to introduce the chapter to the reader. This brief introduction also reemphasizes Mersault's bluntness.

3.Camus uses the image of heat to create a feeling of anger, or anoyance. Just like the sun pops up, anger can flare out as well.
4.Camus does use a few symbols, the sun/heat, and the sea are often mentioned to.
5.Camus does not use figures of speech to show that in everything Mersault's character is bland.
6.Camus does this especialy in the beggining of the first chapter to give great insight into the character, and continues to do this throughout the book.
7.Camus uses the motif of sleep to represent the one place that men can get away from all of their problems.

Rhetorical Devices: Short statements are used at the beginning of every chapter to create a general understanding and connection between the last chapter and the new chapter. It also creates a sense of continuity
